Details
Studio KO: A Few Interiors presents nine interiors by the Paris- and Marrakech-based architecture and design practice founded by Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty. Photographed by François Halard, the monograph moves across projects in Marrakech, Corsica, Cassis, Paris, Los Angeles and London, revealing how Studio KO develops spaces in close conversation with their surroundings.
Studio KO’s work is defined by a restrained architectural language enriched by local materials, cultural references and the accumulated character of historic settings. Rather than imposing a fixed aesthetic, Fournier and Marty respond to the atmosphere, craft traditions and architectural memory of each place. The result is contemporary vernacular design with a strong sense of context—spaces that feel composed, yet never detached from the lives and histories they contain.
Halard’s photography gives these interiors a quiet, tactile presence. His images alternate between expansive architectural views and close observations of surfaces, objects, light and detail, tracing the relationship between structure and inhabitation. Together, the photographs form an atmospheric study of materiality and mood as much as a survey of Studio KO’s projects.
Published by Rizzoli, this hardcover volume gathers 264 pages of photography and editorial insight, including 200 colour and black-and-white photographs and illustrations. It is a considered addition to a design library and a useful source of reference for architects, interior designers and readers interested in spaces shaped by cultural surroundings.
